Dealer.com to Unveil New Art Project for Silos in South End Arts District

Burlington, VT, August 4, 2015 – Dealer.com today announced its creative plans for the 32-foot silos located on Pine St. The company has commissioned local artist Mary Lacy to transform the silos into an inspiring display of public art. Lacy will begin working on the project, titled Inside Out, August 4 and it will be unveiled during the 2015 SEABA Art Hop.

Inside Out is intended to represent the connection between Dealer.com and its surrounding community.  The content of the mural is inspired largely by the interior of the company’s building and the unique silo structure on which it is painted.

For the last two years, Dealer.com’s Corporate Social Responsibility team has curated and maintained a rotating art wall program at its Burlington headquarters.  The program has featured 34 local artists, facilitated over $122k in art sales, and commissioned six South End artists to produce large-scale work for local non-profit organizations.

“Dealer.com’s commitment to the local arts is exceptionally strong, and we are proud to have Mary Lacy as our featured artist for our largest scale project to date,” Jill Badolato, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Dealer.com. “The transformation of the silos will promote creativity in our community while reflecting the fusion of art, technology and business.”

“My own personal style manifests mostly in geometric shapes,” said Lacy. “I let the canvas dictate the composition of the mural. The original development of this geometric style came to me because of an interest in origami.  For this Inside Out silo mural, I returned to that initial source of inspiration.  Many adjacent shapes feel like folds in the paper. I look forward to seeing it add dimension to the community.”

Badolato adds, “When art is installed for the public to enjoy, it says this is a place that is thriving, worthy of living in, and being nurtured for future enjoyment.”

Mary Lacy grew up in Jericho, Vermont. She started painting in high school and in her senior year she attended an art program in Napa City, California, called The Oxbow School. After getting her bachelors in history and politics, she returned to painting with a new community-oriented approach, and is largely known for her wildlife murals. This silo project is her first major abstract mural, and she hopes to continue to paint murals in the public sphere that feature species specific to each location. Some of her most recent public artworks include the Moran Plant and the Hummingbird at American Flatbread in downtown Burlington.
